This policy covers Project Name. It explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it. It is written to be read, not to be skipped.

1. Who we are

Project Name publishes the articles on this website. If you want to reach the people responsible for this policy, use the contact form. We do not publish an email address or a postal address on this site — the form reaches the same desk.

2. What we collect

Reading an article leaves us a record of the page you opened, the time you opened it, the address your request came from, the browser you used, and the site that linked you here if there was one. This is logged by our own software on our own server. It is how we know which stories are being read.

Subscribing to the newsletter means giving us an email address, and a name if you choose to add one. Writing to us through the contact form means giving us a name, an email address and whatever you type into the message box.

We do not ask for a date of birth, a phone number, a payment card, or anything else we have no use for.

3. Why we hold it

Traffic records tell us what readers actually read, which is what shapes what we commission next. Your email address exists in our system for one reason: to send you the newsletter you asked for. A contact-form message is held so someone can reply to it and so we have a record of what was asked.

We do not sell any of it. We do not rent it, trade it, or hand it to a data broker.

4. Legal basis

Where the GDPR applies, we rely on your consent for the newsletter, on our legitimate interest in running and improving a publication for traffic measurement, and on our legitimate interest in answering you for contact-form messages.

5. Third parties

Depending on how this site is configured, some of the following may run on these pages: Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, the Meta pixel, Microsoft Clarity, and Google reCAPTCHA on the contact form. Each of these sets its own cookies and operates under its own privacy policy. Our cookie policy lists what is in use and how to refuse it.

Email we send you passes through the mail provider configured for this site. Nothing beyond your address and the message itself is shared with them.

6. How long we keep it

Traffic records are deleted automatically after two years. Newsletter subscriptions last until you unsubscribe, and every email we send carries a one-click unsubscribe link. Contact-form messages are kept while they are still useful as a record of correspondence, and are deleted on request.

7. Your rights

You can ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. You can withdraw consent for the newsletter at any moment without asking us at all — the unsubscribe link handles it. Use the contact form for anything else and we will answer within thirty days.

8. Children

This site is written for adults. We do not knowingly collect anything from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us information, tell us and it will be removed.

9. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including HTTPS encryption, hashed password storage, two-factor authentication for admin accounts, and regular security audits. No system is 100% secure — if you believe your data has been compromised, contact us immediately.
